The first three pictures were submitted by Dave Hatfield and were all taken at Santa Pod.
The first shot shows US racer Marion Owens lifting the front wheel on his mighty double Harley Davidson-powered Boss Hog.

The late, great Allan 'Bootsie' Herridge in the Mark II version of The Gladiator fuel funny car.
Allan was the inaugral inductee into the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame and the trophies which each member receives are named 'Bootsies' in his honour.

And finally from Dave is this shot of the legendary Page brothers' Panic Pro Comp altered bouncing around.

The next collection of seven pictures is from Keith Mitchell and we kick off, appropriately enough, with two of the Page brothers' earlier cars.
On the left is the ex-John Woolfe Racing Hustler built by Mark Stratton pictured at Blackbushe probably on 8 August 1971.
Their next car was this Fiat Topolino-bodied altered pictured at Santa Pod on 30 August 1971.

And speaking of John Woolfe Racing, here is their 1971 Hot Wheels-sponsored Top Fuel Dragster driven by Dennis Priddle who was inducted into the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 2006.
These two shots are thought to have been taken at Blackbushe on 8 August 1971.

This dragster was originally called the Dos Palmos dragster and came over to the UK for the 1964 Dragfest.  It was later re-named Asmodeus and driven by Bill Weichelt before being taken back to the USA.  This picture was taken at an NDRC meeting at Blackbushe Aerodrome probably on 8 August 1971.

The team of Derek Chinn and Ian Messenger are probably best known for their twice Norton-engined Pegasus top fuel bike.
Before that they campaigned this Vincent V twin-powered bike and this is an excellent shot of it.  The venue is Blackbushe again.

Meet the ancestors of the Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association.  Nearest the camera is Phil Elson in Sneaky T and in the background is Dave Stone at the controls of Tee-Rat.  This picture was taken at the international meeting at Santa Pod Raceway on 8 July 1973.

On now to a selection of pictures sent in by Dave Ingall.
This is Dave Stone again in Tee-Rat turning on to the strip at Blackbushe Aerodrome.

When I first saw this picture I thought it was Bruce Brown's Age Machine dragster but decided to get confirmation from drag racing guru Nick Pettitt who said "You're right Alan it is Age Machine.  The big giveaway is those chrome zoomies which taper out towards the rear as the injected Rat complete with zoomies came from the Hillbillies' Topolino and the exhausts were originally made like that to clear the Topolino bonnet."

The Houndog 6 front engined top fuel dragster.  This picture was taken at Santa Pod Raceway probably in 1973. The funny car in the background is the ex-Paula Murphy car which became Houndog 7.

Three pictures of the retro-styled Cuss & Ashley Ratcatcher rail.
Left - Ratcatcher and the rear elevation of Pat Cuss.
Right - Pete Riggs on the left, Dave Ingall kneeling, and Bob Ashley.
Below - a re-painted Ratcatcher with Bob Ashley on the left and Dave Cooper at Santa Pod.

Two shots of Dave Grabham's Austin A30-bodied Freddy's Revenge altered at Avon Park.  The car has been developed quite a bit since these pictures were taken and you can get up to date by visiting Dave's website by clicking here.

As most readers will be aware, the Vampire jet dragster was totally destroyed in 2006 whilst being driven by TV presenter Richard Hammond who fortunately has made a full recovery from his injuries.
Here is Vampire in happier days at Avon Park.

Ian Hodges is our next contributor and we start with this unusual triple-engined machine.
I was completely stumped here but luckily Clive rooms wasn't.  This is Peter Smith's 1500cc Triumph-powered Pure Hell which dates to 1976.

Ian Hodges seated on his Norton competition bike and a shot of the machine in the pits at Santa Pod.

This is Mick Warne's double-engined Big Blue.

Roz Prior's Miss Revell slingshot Top Fueller.  Roz was inducted into the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 2006.

The final set of pictures on this page were taken by Ian Thomas at the NDRC meeting held at RNAY Wroughton on 14 & 15 June 1975.
The NDRC put on some really good meetings and this one, which featured a large contingent of Swedish racers, was probably the best and I have some very fond memories of it.
Clive Skilton is yet another Hall of Fame inductee and this is his first funny car which featured a Vauxhall VX/490 body.

Liam Churchill built three funny cars in all and this is the middle one.  To find out what it was like to drive Liam's final funny car, take a look at the feature article elsewhere on this site entitled 'Anything but Funny'.

And here are some of those Swedish competitors.
Left- the Volvo P1600-bodied Backfire funny car of Janne Karlsson & Borje Holmgren.
Right - the Opel-bodied Manta Ray funny car campaigned by Björn Andersson.
Below - Hazze Fromm's Ford Capri-bodied Ragnarok.

And finally, two senior competiton altered entries from Sweden.  In the background is Bengt Stafberg's Gasrat II, the car nearest the camera is Anders Lantz's Dynapac-sponsored Model T-bodied car.  Both of them were hard charging cars.

As I said at the start of these pictures this was great meeting.  Not only were these five funny cars pictured above competing but the Hillbillies and Dennis Priddle were there as well!  That's what I call a funny car field.
