The first few pictures on this page are of Krister Johansson and his rear engined Pro Comp dragster. This is Krister sitting in the car. |
Krister's brother Kjell (in the blue jacket) and 'Moatis' (a nickname, Timo has forgotten his real name) make last minute adjustments to the car. |
Krister Johansson performing a fairly modest burn out on one of his frequent visits to Santa Pod. |

Krister Johansson launching his Pro Comp dragster off the line. |
Martin Hopp hazes the tyres on his beautiful Corvette-bodied Pro Comp funny car at Santa Pod. |
Up close with Martin as he boils the hides on the Bifrost sponsored car. |
A superb shot of the car at the height of its burn out. |
Timo clicked this shot off the merest fraction of a second after the car began its run. I wonder what sort of reaction time that was? Pretty good I would imagine coming from a funny car shoe. |
Another launch shot but this time the Bifrost car has had a new paint job and it looks absolutely superb. If you have a look at the larger version of this picture you will be able to see the wrinkle wall slicks really doing their stuff. |

Monica Öberg at the start of her burn out in her Top Fuel Dragster at Santa Pod Raceway. |
'Wild' Bill Sherratt driving the Cannonball fuel funny car lines up against Allan 'Bootsie' Herridge in the Gladiator. |
The Cannonball car was previously Don Prudhomme's all-conquering Army-sponsored funny. Bootsie may just have a foot or two on Bill at this early stage of the race. |
The first of a great series of shots showing Bill Sherratt burning out in Cannonball at Santa Pod. |
Still burning . . . |
Timo got in really close for this superb shot. |
And yet another great burn out shot, this is in so close you can almost feel the ground shaking. |
All of the above shots are believed to have been taken at the inaugural Cannonball Run which was held in 1981. Appropriately enough Bill Sherratt was the winner of this race and here he is with the victor's spoils. |
Chris Filsell creating a little pollution in the Rain City Warrior, this car was the ex-Gladiator funny car of Bootsie Herridge. |
Chris Filsell really boiling the hides this time. |
Last, but by no means least, Dennis Priddle in his last Top Fuel Dragster, just look at the size of those slicks. |
