Hands up all of you who haven't been paying attention and therefore don't know what Dennis Priddle looked like way back when.
Well you do now!
The picture at top left was scanned from a John Woolfe Racing publicity leaflet.
In the picture at bottom left Dennis is behind the engine of the 1971 Hot Wheels fueller.

Dennis is standing next to his Mr Six fueller at top right, I am not sure about that hat . . .
It is possible that the picture at bottom right was taken at a records meeting at Elvington.

John Woolfe Racing imported this 1969 427 Chevy Camaro called The Kielbasi Kid from the USA.  These pictures show none other than Dennis Priddle at the wheel giving the car a few shake-down passes.  Pete Stanford also had a drive in the car before it was sold to Kevin Pilling.  Kevin ditched the Candy Apple red metalflake paint job for a jet black livery and ran it is Satan's Toy.  The car was capable of low 12 second passes.

Dennis was fortunate enough to secure sponsorship from STP in 1974 for both the Avenger funny car and the Mr Revell top fuel dragster.
On the left is a publicity piece showing all the drivers they were sponsoring that year (Dennis is bottom left of course).  I know I am knocking on a bit, but Steve Carvill (pictured above Dennis) doesn't even look old enough to hold a driving licence.
On the right is a press release from STP announcing their sponsorship plans.

Dennis Priddle (left) in deep conversation with Tony Gane aka Aloysius Crimpton (holding the pipe), team member Ray Pritchard is in the foreground.  This picture was taken at Tony's house where the chassis for Quartermaster (the team's first fueller) was built.

Tony Gane hard at work on the construction of one of the team's top fuel dragsters.  Dave Riswick confirms this to be the chassis of the 1971 Hot Wheels car because the 1970 Quartermaster rail can be dimly seen in the background.

Meet the Fockers . . . err . . . I mean the team.
On the extreme left is Radio Luxemburg DJ Dave Christian, then with the beard and blue overalls is the late Pete Stanford, the tall figure behind him is Dave Riswick (head honcho of John Woolfe Racing), then Dennis holding the trophy, on Dennis' right is Terry Axe, and on Terry's right is Tony Gane.  This picture dates from 1972.

The team grouped around the Petersen Trophy.
Back row : Barry Duffty, Barry's father Bill, photog Graham White, Dennis Priddle, Edwin McKnight, the late Pete Stanford and Brian Glockler.
Front row : Dave Riswick and Irvin Axe.
On the right is the team's press release announcing their success in winning the trophy.

Dennis holding the SEMA trophy in conversation with Dennis Stone (extreme right) whilst Dave Riswick, Corinne Stone (Dave Stone's wife), Dave Stone (in black jacket) and Gerry Andrews look on.
The SEMA trophy was originally presented to Sidney Allard in 1964 by the SEMA organisation which at that time consisted of only a handful of US speed equipment manufacturers.  The trophy was presented to Dennis  two years for winning the Internationals meetings and he was then told to keep it permanently.  The trophy is currently at the Brighton & Hove Motor Club of all places.

This is one of a series of pictures taken at an extremely wet RAF Upper Heyford in 1971 for Hot Car magazine.  The pictures were actually taken by a USAF photographer due to the then top secret nature of the aircraft in the background.  Dave Riswick tells me that everyone had to keep their backs to it and not to look at it at any cost!
Dennis Priddle is standing next to the Hot Wheels top fuel dragster and the late Ed Shaver poses with his AMX modified car.  That is very likely the Base Commander on the steps of the plane but you are not supposed to be looking at that you naughty people!

I cannot claim to know Dennis Priddle very well.  But one thing I do know is that he would not have taken much persuading to get amongst this bevy of beauties!  This picture was taken in 1971 at RAE Yeovilton in Somerset.

A snap of Don Prudhomme's all-conquering US Army-sponsored funny car.  This picture was taken at Ontario Motor Speedway at the 1973 NHRA Supernationals.

Two more of the team's press releases.
On the left is a report on the meeting held at HMS Daedalus the Royal Naval Air Base at Gosport on 15 July 1973.
On the right, Dennis' run of 6.68 seconds 210 mph in Mr Revell on 27 August 1973 is recorded.

This is the NHRA's official confirmation of Dennis Priddle's entry for the 1973 Winternationals.

Does anyone tuned in disagree
with this sentiment?

Since Dennis' last page was published on the site, I am very pleased
to report that he has been inducted into the UK Drag Racing Hall of Fame.
This is of course richly deserved - congratulations Dennis from your many fans.
