Here is another chance to see some action shots of Peter Crane and his ex-Cannon & Soares Stormbringer.  Peter was the first man this side of the pond to run a five and with burn outs like this you can see why.

Up close and personal - Peter boiling those hides again at Santa Pod.

The car may have changed colour but the smoke is still the same.  I gather from Peter that the sponsorship deal with Dindy Cassettes was not an unqualified success.  That looks like Roz Prior in the firesuit perched on the safety barrier watching proceedings.

Up close again with the car proudly sporting a Union Jack.  I wish I could have got where that bloke with the white jacket is standing.

This boy ran a few fives in his time, King of the Dragsters, the old Swamp Rat himself 'Big Daddy' Don Garlits.

Large Father gets a push back to the line at the Pod.

Trevor Young being towed in the pits at Blackbushe in his Competition Products sponsored fueller.

This is the ex-Asphalt Alleygator car as driven by the late Allan 'Bootsie' Herridge but now sponsored by Lex Wilkinson and named Nightline Express.  Bill Sherratt was doing the driving chores, that looks like Roy Phelps leaning into the cockpit.  This picture was taken at Santa Pod on 7 July 1984.

The Bosch Dragstern fueller pictured at Santa Pod on 22 September 1984.  My friend Anders Olsson has come to the rescue (again!) and tells me that this was Monica Oberg's car.

Andy Craddock's fueller looks to have picked up sponsorship from Radio Caroline - either that or it's his wife's name!  That rear wing looks high for the time and the front one is unique.

I believe this car is Orpheus which was driven by Alan Ritmeisters, Alan unfortunately lost his life in the car at Santa Pod.  The venue looks like Snetterton to me.

This front view of the Houndog 8 fueller really accentuates the length of the car which was said to have been modelled on Tony Nancy's fueller.  This picture must have been taken at Santa Pod.

Houndog 8 again in the fire up road at Santa Pod.  This must be quite an old shot as it looks like the car was still being fired up by push starting.

The team brought the dragster and the funny car out one Saturday morning and parked them in the middle of the strip to allow some publicity shots to be taken.  I thought I would get in on the act as well albeit from the grandstand.

Both Tog from Eurodragster and no less an authority than Pelle Lindelow have been in touch to tell me that the Strike 10 car was driven by Tony Donges.  Pelle goes on to say that it was actually a methanol-burning Pro Comp dragster.  Whoops!  Still never mind - it was a good looking car and it's here now.

While Pelle was straightening me out on Tony Donges' car he also wanted to know why there were no pictures of his car.  This was a very fair point so I had a rummage through the Archive and came up with two.  The first was taken on 25 September 1983 at the bottom of the fire up road at Santa Pod as the car is being prepared to run.

The second picture of Pelle's Clarion sponsored car was also taken at Santa Pod but this time on 22 September 1984 in the pits.  This car was fitted with a Keith Black hemi with which it ran 6.22 seconds first time out.  This was a huge improvement on the 6.5s which was all the previous Chevy lump could manage.

We are going to go out on this page with the greatest European driver of this era in many people's opinion - Dennis Priddle.  Dennis was not only a great driver he built nearly all his own cars (and plenty for other people as well).  This is his Mr Six rear engined car which no doubt bore some similarities to Don Garlits' car which he was allowed to drive by the great man.  This was taken at Long Marston.

Not great exposure on this shot unfortunately.  Dennis is burning out in the spectator lane at Santa Pod with Bootsie Herridge in the Asphalt Alleygator in the pit lane.

Mr Six was sold to the late Tony Boden who campaigned it as The Hitman.  Dennis then produced this beauty.  This picture was taken at Long Marston.

This shot was taken over the fence at the bottom of the fire up road at Santa Pod on 25 September 1983 just before a run.

Dennis' car now has some sponsorship from Britool and has been painted red.  The car has just been unloaded from the trailer at Santa Pod on 6 July 1985 as the rear wing has yet to be mounted in position.

Wing now fitted and ready to roll, this picture was also taken on 6 July 1985 at the Pod.
