This car was originally called Impact and was driven by Yorkshireman Mike (Mick) Sayers. When it first competed the bodywork was painted dark blue and it ran in the Junior Dragster class (JD/27).  The car was powered by a supercharged 998cc Hillman Imp engine  and it was a very successful machine.  Once again, the car's name is a play on words of the origin of the engine.

It ran consistently to win the NDRC Castrol/RAC Points Championship for 1974.  In a cliff-hanger final round at Snetterton, Mick set a new junior dragster record, being the first car in this class to dip below 11 seconds with a 10.89/125mph effort. He had travelled nearly 4000 miles that year to compete in this 8 round championship!  Here was a perfect example of a giant killer, proving that you didn't need a mega-buck V8 motor to win a championship.

The picture shows the car sometime later, possibly having been sold on, hence the change of bodywork colour and race number - now running in E class dragster.  The class changes occurred around the 1978 season.  I am not sure who was running the car when this picture was taken.
