The Rainmaker dragster of John Wright and John Sutton was powered by a 454 inch Rat motor. This car was originally campaigned by Bruce Brown and called the Age Machine. It then passed to Dave Prior who found the cockpit a little snug so his wife Ros drove it before moving up to a top fuel dragster. |

Andy Barrack has come to my rescue yet again with details of this car and others on this page. We are looking at the Alkymist slingshot dragster powered by a 5016cc Chevy lump. Pictured are co-owners Vince Shaw (on the left) and John Gibbons. Vince tells me this picture was taken in 1977 at the Pod, they were Midland Champions that year. |

I only recall seeing Ken Lyon's Geordie Pride the once so it's a good job I took a picture of it. The car was powered by a 1650cc Ford engine. |

Rick Fielding was a prolific builder of competition altereds and dragsters all of which were called Imagination. He looks like he might have under-cooked the cockpit a bit with this one as he seems to be having a job getting in or out of it. |

Rob Panter and Roger Hopton's Shazam junior dragster in the pits at Blackbushe. This looks to have been quite an old car even when this picture was taken probably at Blackbushe. Old it may have been but consistent it certainly was - Rob and Shazam won the NDRC National Championship two years in a row. |

A junior dragster lifts it's front wheels high and seems to be veering to the right as it leaves the line at Santa Pod. Start line marshal Stu Bradbury looks on but has seen it all before. Martyn Jons has written to tell me that this car is an early(ish) version of a long line of dragsters named Motor Mouse driven by Steve Johnson. |

This well prepared dragster was Quarter Horse III and was raced by Bill Haynes using a Ford 4799cc mill. Bill tells me that the car usually ran with body panels alongside the engine and thinks that this picture must have been taken early in the season before they were fitted. |

Russ Carpenter's superb rear engined blown Daimler V8 powered cars were called Trouble, More Trouble and, yes you've guessed it, Even More Trouble. I think this must be Even More Trouble looking every inch the junior fueller that it effectively was. The location appears to be Blackbushe. Russ is standing near the trailer in the yellow overalls. |
