My thanks to Archive contributor and Shakey County Track Manager Jerry Cookson for information on this beautiful 7027cc Corvette which belonged to Maurice Morley and ran in Top Street Eliminator.  The trick paintwork was applied by Auto Art and the car was featured on the cover of the August 1973 issue of National Drag Racer magazine.
This was one of the very first pictures I ever took at the drags using my trusty Praktica LTL.  I recall that I borrowed a 240mm lens for the weekend from a chap I worked with on the construction of the NatWest tower.
The camera doesn't work anymore but I can't bring myself to throw it away, I had a lot of happy times with it.

According to my contemporaneous notes the Eazy Ridin' Camaro was being raced by Peter Crane when this picture was taken.

I am pretty sure that this Camaro called The Mouse and, I think, was run by a Swedish team.

Thanks again to Jerry Cookson I can confirm that this car was indeed called Trollit's Toy and was campaigned by Bo Holstrom in Pro Stock.  It was well known in Swedish drag racing as The Troll.
Holstrom was partnered with another well known Swedish racer Gunne Back who raced the Frighten Chicken Corvette.

Mark I Ford Escort Hustler II driven by D Block leaving the line at Snetterton in 1974 (thanks again Jerry).

Unknown Mustang burning out, well half burning out, at Santa Pod.

Another 'don't know' I am afraid.  The venue is Blackbushe Aerodrome the scene of many very enjoyable races.

The late Tony Dickson's Money Hungry Camaro.  The car had been completely re-built and re-painted (including real pound notes) for an assault on the 10 second zone.  That probably sounds incredibly slow to most of you in these days of super-fast doorslammers but it all had to start somewhere and cars like this was where it was.

I suspect that this Mustang belonged to 'Big John' Ledster.

The Flying Foundryman pictured at Snetterton.

The Mouse Power Camaro which, if I have read his name properly, was campaigned by Lief 'Masen' Hollström.

No details on this Maverick.

Ditto.

Jim Briggs' Wild Man Mach I Mustang was powered by a 7 litre Ford mill - what else?

Two Mustangs - two different versions of Brackett & Brown's Shotgun Wedding.  I think Colin Brackett ran the car on the left single-handed.

Graham Barr's 5754cc Neon Star.

John Mills' absolutely huge Roadrunner.

A rather more compact car here, this is Dave Collis' Vauxhall Firenza which was powered by a 402 cubic inch Chevy.

Alan Newton drove this lovely Corvette which he called The Sting.  Power was from a 5738cc Chevrolet.

No ID.

My thanks to Archive contributor and drag racing guru Mark Gredzinski who tells me that this Maverick sported a Boss 429" injected Ford which was a rare motor at the time.  He knows this because he took a picture of the car himself at either the 1979 or 1980 World Finals.

Clive Mechaell was the driver of Trick Corvette which as you can see had a coming together with something rather solid at Long Marston as it was then known.
My thanks to Mark Gredzinski again for identifying Clive Mechaell in the red firesuit.

Gredzo to the rescue yet again - this hood scoop belonged to Dave Warne's Vega panel van.

Pete Hodgetts' smart looking Mk I Ford Escort seen at Blackbushe.

An unusual Lakester style A Modified at Long Marston.

Two shots of Street Elite Racing's Mk II Zodiac both taken at Blackbushe Aerodrome.  The picture on the left was taken on 2 October 1983 and the one on the right on 20 May 1984.
My thanks to Andy Rogers (aka Tog of Eurodragster) for pointing out that car builder and Pro Mod racer Andy Robinson was the brains behind Street Elite Racing.  Well now!

The Wick brothers' (highly) modified Fiat 500 which they called Lil' Bug pictured at Santa Pod on 12 August 1984.

Dave Pollen's Pollen Count at Santa Pod on 26 August 1984.  'Don't Mix with a Fifty Six' it says so the bodyshell was almost thirty years old even then.  Pollen Count was powered by a 350" Oldsmobile lump.

Kenny and Bev Coleman's Stampede Super Gas entry at Santa Pod also on 26 August 1984.

Steph Millam didn't always drive a Top Methanol Funny Car.  This Austin A35 was her ride back in 1984.

Mr Mighty was another Scandinavian entry.  Try as I might I cannot make out the driver's name on the door which looks very like 'Odd' something.
Very odd!
This picture was snapped on 22 September 1984.

This is Barry Potters 1898cc Lotus Elan called Palladin, the picture was taken at North Weald on 18 August 1985.

North Weald again also on 18 August 1985.  Amazing how many times I get the bogs somewhere in shot!
